Lyric Series 4: Immortality

To the port I see the lighthouse through the sleet and the rain --
He could see land as the small boat drifted off. He saw a light in the deep grey fog - a light at the end of the tunnel. A light calling him towards salvation.
He turned away. He had tried salvation once. He tried religion. He tried to find God. Part of him thought he had.
But God hadn't found him. He prayed. He asked. He conformed to their desires and jumped through their hoops. He convinced himself he believed. Convinced himself he loved. He got no response. No peace.

Lyric Series 5 - LiesLie to me ------
"Do you love me?" he asked, eyes pleading.

I knew that he knew everything. That I would rip my heart out for him. That I would do anything because I loved him more than love its self.

I knew if I said it he would stay. I knew if he had to go so he could be happy. I knew he wouldn't be able to if he stayed.
His face was not pleading for love or truth. His face was begging me to let him go, whether or not his heart wanted me to. Whether or not my heart wanted me to. He was begging me to lie.
So I did. I lied. Because I love him.

Lyric Series 2People will search their entire lives for love. They will search the world. They will search their hearts. But they will never search their own relationships. They question if they are truly in love. They "think" they are. But thinking you're in love is the same as being in love. That's what love is. It exists only when and where it happens. Nowhere else. No other times. If you think it might exist, it will exist only where and when you suspect it.

I realize I never really explained my Lyric Series project to anyone.

It's like the writing version of Project365 if that helps anyone, only smaller scaled.

I take 52 song lyrics, or other lyric-esque lines. and write 52 short pieces, one for each lyric. It ends up being 1 per week for a whole year if you time it right. I have others stocked and I'll post them a few at a time.

Here's the list so far.

1 - Fire - As a matter of convenience, we don't speak of dying gardens.

2 - Love - Thinking you're in love is the same as being in love. That's what love is

4 - Immortality - To the port I see the lighthouse through the sleet and the rain.

5 - Lies - Lie to me. Please.

6 - Help - Thank you for helping us help you help us all

There is no Lyric Series 3. I hate the number 3.

And Manda just realized that Jacey practically said the exact same thing without her knowing it, and so I have decided to file a law suit for her copying my idea, even though she said it first.
